Section 1

Executive Overview

Please note — this is a first-draft proposal based on a single introductory call. It's intentionally detailed so you can see the full picture of what's possible, but nothing here is set in stone. I fully expect — and actively encourage — you to come back with questions, changes, or things you'd like to add or remove. We'll refine everything together at our meeting on 10 June. Adjustments to scope, pricing, and content are all welcome at this stage — that's exactly what the meeting is for.

Thank you for taking the time to speak with me earlier this week, Wayne. It was great to hear about the business, and I came away with a clear picture of what you need and the opportunity that's sitting in front of you.

This proposal sets out my recommended approach for a new, purpose-built website for W.S. Electrical (SW) Ltd — hand-coded from scratch, designed specifically to generate enquiries and position you as the go-to electrician across the Exmoor area, Watchet, Williton and Minehead.

The timing is excellent. You're already established and have a Facebook presence, you're taking on an apprentice, and you're beginning to explore EV charger installations — a high-growth, high-margin service that homeowners and businesses are actively searching for right now. A well-built website ties all of that together and makes sure you're found by the right people at the right moment.

🎯 Primary Goal

Generate genuine leads and enquiries from homeowners and businesses across Somerset who need a trusted, qualified local electrician.

⚡ EV Opportunity

Position Wayne as an EV charger installer before competitors do — capturing high-value EV enquiries while the local market is still wide open.

📅 Target Launch

Site live within 8–10 weeks of sign-off — well before the summer busy period when property owners book tradespeople.

💰 Investment Model

Low upfront setup cost with a manageable monthly plan covering hosting, maintenance, and ongoing support.

Section 2

Our Understanding of Your Business

Before recommending anything, I want to show you I've listened carefully. Below is my understanding of where the business stands and where you're heading. Please flag anything I've got wrong — it matters that this proposal is built on accurate foundations.

About the Business

“Amazing! What a star — came with new cable and sorted my cooker after he had been working elsewhere all day. What a lifesaver — efficient, and polite. Thank you so much!” Von Rudds — Facebook recommendation for W.S. Electrical SW Ltd
“Had extra sockets added to my kitchen, well happy and comes highly recommended.” Anneka Waygood — Facebook recommendation for W.S. Electrical SW Ltd

What the Website Needs to Do

Right now, potential customers looking for an electrician in the Watchet or Minehead area are searching online — and if you're not there, they're calling someone else. The website has three core jobs:

⚡ EV Charger Opportunity — Act Now

EV charger installation is one of the fastest-growing domestic services in the UK right now. Homeowners switching to electric vehicles need a certified installer, and they're actively searching online. Getting a dedicated EV charger page live now — before your local competitors do — could be one of the highest-return actions in this proposal. The website will have this built in from day one.

Section 4

Proposed Site Structure

The site will be clean, clear, and easy to navigate. Every page has one purpose: move the visitor toward picking up the phone or filling in the enquiry form.

🏠
Home
Hero with clear call-to-action, services summary, service area, trust signals, and customer reviews.
Services
Full services list: domestic, commercial, industrial, rewires, consumer units, fault finding, security lighting & cameras, landlord certificates, and more.
🔌
EV Charger Installation
Dedicated page explaining the service, the process, accreditations, grants available, and how to get a quote.
📷
Gallery / Work Examples
Photo gallery of completed work — consumer units, installations, EV chargers — with brief captions.

📍
Contact
Enquiry form, phone number, email, Google Map, service area coverage, and response time.
🔒
Privacy Policy
GDPR-compliant policy covering enquiry form data and cookies.
EV Page Strategy: The EV charger page will be built as a standalone, SEO-optimised page targeting searches like “EV charger installer Somerset”, “home EV charger Watchet”, and “EV charge point installation Exmoor”. This page will also cover the OZEV grant scheme (where applicable) — something most customers don’t know about, and which positions Wayne as an expert guide, not just a contractor.
Section 5

Design Direction & Branding

The design must do one thing clearly: communicate that Wayne is a professional, reliable, qualified electrician who you'd trust in your home or business. Not corporate, not generic — a real local expert who knows the area and the job.

Visual Tone

The target audience is homeowners, landlords, and small businesses across Somerset. They want someone who looks the part — clean, professional, clearly qualified — but feels local and approachable, not like a national franchise. Think of the design as a uniform: smart, clean, confident.

Colour palette: Deep navy blue (trust, expertise, electrical industry convention) combined with sharp amber/yellow (energy, electrical, warmth). Clean white space throughout. Typography that's bold and clear — no decorative fonts. This is a working tradesperson's website, and it should look the part.

Good news on branding: Wayne’s existing logo — the three-cable motif in navy and gold — maps perfectly onto this palette. No logo redesign is needed; the site will be built around the existing brand identity.

Design Principles

Photography Guidance

The most impactful thing Wayne can do before launch is take a dozen good-quality photos on his phone: a completed consumer unit, an EV charger install, cables neatly run, and a couple of photos of Wayne at work (wearing his uniform if he has one). These photos alone will transform how professional the site looks. I'll provide a simple shot list at kick-off.

Section 7

SEO & Local Search Strategy

For a local tradesperson, local SEO is the single highest-return digital investment available. When someone in Watchet searches “electrician near me” or “NAPIT electrician Somerset”, you want Wayne's name to come up — not a national directory or a competitor from Taunton.

What Is Included (On-Page SEO)

Google Business Profile

High priority: I'll set up and fully optimise the Google Business Profile for W.S. Electrical (SW) Ltd. For a local tradesperson, this is the single most powerful free tool available — appearing in Google Maps when someone searches “electrician Watchet” or “electrician near me”. This is included as part of the project.

EV Charger SEO

The EV charger page will be written and structured specifically to rank for searches like:

This page could realistically rank within a few months given how little local competition there currently is for these terms.

Key Content Recommendation

A simple “Areas We Cover” page or section listing every village and town served is one of the most effective SEO tools for a local tradesperson. It costs very little to produce and can rank for dozens of long-tail searches. I'll build this into the site structure.

Section 8

Project Timeline

The target is a live site within 8–10 weeks of sign-off — comfortably before the summer season when tradesperson bookings peak.

Note: The timeline above assumes photos and any existing content are supplied promptly. I'll provide a clear content checklist at kick-off to make this as straightforward as possible.
Section 9

Investment & Pricing

I've structured three options to suit different budgets and preferences. All three include the same full bespoke, hand-coded website — the only difference is how the build investment is spread.

Why hand-coded? Unlike WordPress or page builder sites, every line of code is written by hand. The result is a faster, more secure, and completely unique website — with no plugin vulnerabilities, no licence fees, and no bloated code. It's entirely owned by Wayne, with no dependency on any third-party platform.
